Welcome to Strong Mind + Body

My name is Erin McKay and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (Indiana) and a Licensed Professional Counselor (Michigan). I received my bachelor’s degree at the University of Louisville where I also played soccer. Then went on to receive my master’s degree of Counseling with a specialization in Sport and Health Psychology from Adler University in Chicago. Upon graduating, I’ve worked in several different settings including Foster Care organizations, Residential Treatment Centers, DBT program private practice and my own sport psychology private practice.

I’ve had many different experiences throughout my life, some wonderful and some traumatic. The traumatic experiences stunted me and my own personal growth for many years, which is why this work is so important to me. Trauma disconnects the mind-body connection and ultimately, we abandon the ability to trust ourselves. For years I felt weak, worthless, and lost all confidence. Which is how I came to the name Strong Mind and Body. I want to help you restore that mind-body connection, learn to trust yourself, and feel strong and renewed when leaving our time together.

I strongly believe that not one approach works for everyone which is why I tailor my approach to your specific needs. I like to use a holistic, integrative approach to therapy using different modalities such as CBT, DBT, EMDR, Attachment, Somatic Experiencing, and Nutritional Psychiatry. I offer both individual and family sessions for teens and adults struggling with Depression, Anxiety, Self-confidence, Relationship struggles, Trauma, Stage of life change, Major transitions, and Stress
